In a rapid series of legal proceedings in the Billings County District Court, Montana, Trav gets charged with human trafficking, trespassing on private property, and other related offenses. On the final day, the court opts to proceed with the sentencing on an expedited schedule. After a brief hearing, the judge—citing statutory sentencing guidelines for severe human trafficking offenses, imposes a sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
